Season-first win will relax us - NYRB's Cahill

Tim Cahill feels the first New York Red Bull win of the season can relax the players and give the club an incentive for the remainder of the campaign.

The Red Bulls edged Philadelphia Union 2-1 at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, opening their winning account for the 2013 season, and easing the pressure according to the Australian midfielder.

"(It meant) a lot. We just needed to win," said Cahill. "I think for us now we can just relax and play football, this is finally the win that we needed and come next week we're going to have a good week training.

"We can go into this week relaxed; there's finally no pressure. We played some great football in the first half, setting the balls up, going long, staying short, mixing it up.

"The game plan is working well; but for the manager (Mike Petke), we're so happy for him because he works at it night and day and takes his work home with him, as we do as well. Out of everyone I think he deserves it. You can tell he's passionate for it and for us as players we'll do anything to get the result for him."

The win allowed to the Red Bulls to move up to sixth place on the Eastern Conference table with five points from as many outings.
