Scunthorpe United goalkeeper Joe Murphy is interesting Wigan Athletic.

The Sunday Mirror says Latics boss Roberto Martinez is on the look-out for cover and competition for Chris Kirkland and his spies have been looking at former West Brom and Tranmere starlet Murphy.

The Latics are desperate to improve that department but have turned down the chance to pick up free agent Jurgen Macho after a trial.

Martinez is reviewing the futures of veteran Mike Pollitt and Richard Kingson and is keen to recruit a better second string at the DW Stadium.
