Scunthorpe United chairman Steve Wharton says Gary Hooper is the best piece of business he has ever done.
The English club signed the 25-year old striker from Southend for £150,000 in 2008 before selling him to Celtic for £2.4million in 2010 and are due a windfall if Hooper happens to leave for a Premier League club this summer.
"We spent about £150,000 on Gary and that has to be the best deal I ever struck when I was Scunthorpe chairman," said Wharton.
"With him doing well at Celtic, he has been financially the best player for us. I have no idea how much Gary is worth in today's market, but I hope if he does move from Celtic then he goes for a lot of money.
"I would think there would be something in it for Scunthorpe if he goes, wouldn't you?
"But our agreement with Celtic had a confidentiality clause, so I can't discuss it."
