The Premier League insist they have no control over this season's fixtures schedule.
England boss Roy Hodgson is said to be furious with the top-flight TV schedule for the new season.
It means FOURTEEN of his stars could be in action just five days before The Three Lions' 2014 qualifier against Moldova on September 6.
Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore said: "Fixtures are a complex affair.
"Yet it's our international confederations that have squeezed the calendar, not us.
"So we get bristly at the idea that, with the fixture calendar, it's somehow us being the awkward ones."
