Scottish midfielder Moffat surprised by Seattle Sounders to FC Dallas trade

Adam Moffat admits his trade from Seattle Sounders to FC Dallas came as a complete surprise.

The 27-year old Scottish midfielder had only joined the Sounders from Houston Dynamo in September but is now on his way to Texas after being traded for Kenny Cooper.

Moffat told the media on Wednesday that Seattle's decision to offload him was a complete blindside for he and his wife who gave birth to their second child this week.

"It's funny the way the league operates, you never have that much security in one place. There was no mention of it, there was no 'this could possibly be the case'," Moffat said.

"It's a horrible position and it's one I'd never wish on anyone else. I hope with the CBA (collective bargaining agreement) that's coming up next year, that we can kind of do something about that."

However, the former Columbus Crew and Houston Dynamo man was looking to make Dallas his new home and achieve success with the club.

"Hopefully this is it and I get to finish out my career here. I've been playing a long time and that's kind of what you hope for every team you go to," he added.
