Scottish Premier League chief executive Neil Doncaster believes Scottish football can climb out of the mire with a brand new TV rights deal.
The SPL last night signed a five-year agreement with Sky and ESPN worth around £80million and Doncaster feels it will be greatly beneficial to the code in Scotland.
"The timing could not have been better. Trying to find a title sponsor when you don't have a robust, credible live broadcast product is a difficult task," he said.
"If you talk to sponsors of each club they are also reliant on the exposure from Sky and ESPN."
He added: "Stability and certainty are king. Across the UK and Europe, there is no doubt clubs and fans are hurting.
"So the attraction of five years' stability made it a fairly easy decision."
The deal will run from the start of the 2012/13 season and is an improvement on the £65milliom agreement signed in 2009.
