Scottish-born Holden saves the day for USA

Scottish-born American midfielder Stuart Holden was delighted to have scored the equaliser for the US national team in the CONCACAF Gold Cup on Sunday.

The 23-year old managed a long-range effort in the 91st minute to make level the scores at 2-2 and save the US from being beaten by Haiti.

Holden said it was a huge moment in his career and felt fantastic after he scored.

"It's the biggest goal of my career," said Holden who was born in Aberdeen and moved to Houston when he was 10.

"There was a great sense of relief and it was followed by tremendous excitement.

"I really wanted to get the ball back to the centre circle because I felt like we could have grabbed another one and won the game."
