Scott McDonald reflected on his career to date in Scottish football in an interview with BBC Radio Scotland. The Celtic striker was joined by former Motherwell teammate Stephen Craigan, St Mirren defender Jack Ross and former Celtic great Murdo MacLeod to discuss various aspects of McDonald's career to date.
McDonald began by explaining how his career in Scotland commenced and how his first club, Motherwell, helped him grow.
"I've just enjoyed every single minute of it and all my time up here but I've got to say it comes down to the management at Motherwell for giving me the opportunity in the first place because my career was more or less down and out.
"I was ready to go home back to Australia and the manager had seen something in me and gave me the opportunity to ply my trade again and get some confidence and I've just developed as a footballer from then on in and still getting better now which is great."
When asked if there was every any apprehension in joining such a large club like Celtic, McDonald replied, "It's got to do with my character, the belief is there and from the day I walked in there I was excited like a kid in a sweet shop as they say.
"The first day we arrived in Switzerland and I thought I am going to put my trademark on this, I need to get in and make an impression and obviously by the look of it I did that.
"From day one all I had on my mind, even during the summer because I knew I was going there I was just concentrating and I trained really hard that summer as well, probably a bit harder than what I did this summer but it's been great from day one for me there and I have made an impression but you have got to keep at it.
"My form dipped at the start of this season, I probably wasn't at my best but I stuck at it again and thankfully the gaffer (manager Gordon Strachan) has had faith in me and I think I have improved as an all round player this year.
"Obviously the goals haven't been as frequent but I think my all round game has improved a lot and I'm only 25 still and I'm learning a lot about the game.
On signing with Celtic, the diminutive striker said: "It meant the world to me.
"It was well documented when I first signed that I supported the team as a kid growing up in Australia which is hard to believe but growing up with two Glaswegian parents and although my mum's side is predominantly Rangers but I was brainwashed as a kid with the green and white hoops.
"I was pretty much the only one when I used to go to football training. Everybody else used to have the Rangers tops on whether they were from any British origin, from English or Scottish so I used to get a bit of stick even 25,000 miles away (from Glasgow).
"I remember coming here when I was about 12 years old I actually played in a football festival in Aberdeen. We generated the money ourselves and that was the first time I came to Scotland. It was my first taste of Celtic Park and ever since that day I'd wanted to be a part of that but I never thought in a million years that it would be the case and that would happen so I'm pretty much living on cloud nine at the moment."
