Scotland will keep an eye on Tottenham ace Bale - McGhee

Scotland assistant Mark McGhee insists Gareth Bale will be closely watched when they meet Wales on Friday.

Gordon Strachan's Scottish side host the Welsh Dragons at Hampden in World Cup qualifying and will be acutely aware of the qualities the Tottenham ace possesses, especially after his late double gave Wales a 2-1 win in Cardiff in October.

"I've watched a lot of him recently and we obviously realise he's a huge threat," he said.

"Any management team in the world at this moment coming up against Gareth Bale would give him serious consideration and, of course, we will do that and will plan to deal with him as best we possibly can.

"But we are at home, it's a World Cup qualifier and we feel that by exerting our influence on the game then that can possibly undermine his chances of being a big influence on the game."

He added: "Even this afternoon we have been going through DVDs that we will be showing the players, and some of that includes situations that we felt teams had done certain things tactically that caused Gareth Bale a problem in terms of trying to find space and get on the ball.

"That's what we have to do but, as importantly, that when we do win the ball back off Wales, we are positive with it."
