Scotland's Strachan optimistic following Croatia triumph

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan was thrilled with how his side finished their World Cup qualifying campaign on Tuesday night.

The Scots beat Group A's second-placed side Croatia 2-0 at Hampden Park thanks to goals from Robert Snodgrass and Steven Naismith and it was a positive performance that really pleased a proud Strachan.

"It was great to see the composure of the players," Strachan said.

"We weren't sacred of the Croatians, who have some talented players, and was pleasing to see the players do what we have been practicing in training."

He added: "There was good football out there and there must be special praise for Naismith, I thought he was fantastic.

"It gives us all great optimism and I think we can add to our squad.

"We'll add technical ability and all the rest to the squad, but the players' heart, concentration and determination was great."

Scotland finished in fourth position in their qualifying group behind winners Belgium, Croatia and Serbia.
