Scotland's Levein praises Celtic young gun Forrest

Scotland national team boss Craig Levein has heaped praise on Celtic youngster James Forrest for his performance last night.

The 20-year old winger was the star of the show as Scotland drew 1-1 with Slovenia in Koper and Levein has indicated he will be quickly adding to his five international caps following that showing.

"A lot of boys did really well out there, but for me James was the prize. His performance made the trip worth it," he said.

"Who knows, maybe if he'd stayed with the Under-21s they might have done even better than draw at home last night.

"But you can see why we brought him up to the full squad. This is where he'll be from now on.

"There are a lot of good reasons for taking these games, a main one being that they give players valuable experience before the World Cup qualifiers.

"When you get a young lad like James, though, who comes in and does as well as he did, it's a great boost.

"I didn't expect anything but a good display from him. But he probably exceeded my hopes for him."
