Scotland's Levein pleased McFadden has signed for Everton

Scotland manager Craig Levein admits he is happy that James McFadden has signed with a Premier League club.

The 28-year old attacker remains in the plans of Levein and his move back to Everton after being without a club for a few months has pleased the Scotland boss ahead of next year's 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign.

"Am I pleased he's signed for an English Premier League club? I definitely am," Levein said.

"It's a good thing that he's gone to play for Davie Moyes again, who knows him well.

"Some of his best form for Scotland has come when he was playing for Everton."

And Levein quashed claims that he was not a fan of McFadden because of his individual, attacking style of play.

"I disagree with that. Look at James Forrest, look at Barry Bannan, James Morrison is attack minded, Charlie Adam is attack minded," he added.

"The other thing of course is that as things progress and we get a settled system we can start to take chances and play differently."
