Scotland management willing to find more players like Watford's Anya

Scotland assistant Mark McGhee insists he and manager Gordon Strachan will be the ones to chase up any other players who become eligible to represent the national team.

Glasgow-born Ikechi Anya, who was also available to play for Romania, Nigeria or England, pledged his allegiance to Scotland when he was selected for World Cup qualifiers in August.

McGhee admits that the Scotland management team followed up the Watford winger and suggests they would do the same in a similar situation in the future.

"We wouldn't leave it to the SFA. The most recent one who has turned up is Anya. As soon as we knew he was viable we went to watch him," McGhee said.

"Then as soon as we were convinced we went to him so we would do it in that way again."

Scotland have been linked with a move for Cardiff City defender Steven Caulker, who has already played once for England, but McGhee played down the speculation only indicating that he is a player who fits the teams criteria as he has a Scottish grandparent.
