Scotland in danger of losing Strachan ahead of England clash

Gordon Strachan could walk away from his role as Scotland manager before next month's clash with England.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the 59-year-old is set to quit his post with the SFA following a below par start to Scotland's 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Following their 5-1 win over Malta in September, Scotland have been held to a 1-1 draw by Lithuania (ranked 117th) and were beaten 3-0 by Slovakia on Tuesday.

While there is no desire from the SFA to sack Strachan, the former Manchester United and Leeds United star fears he may not be able to get his players up for the Wembley clash with England and is keen to avoid an embarrassing defeat to the Auld Enemy.

It is understood that Strachan feels his side has no chance of qualifying for Russia 2018 after just three Group F matches and he is currently weighing up his options.
