Scotland boss Strachan praises Celtic skipper Brown

Scotland manager Gordon Strachan has heaped praise on Scott Brown for his match-winning performance in the 1-0 friendly win over Poland on Wednesday.

The Celtic captain played a full 90 minutes in midfield at the National Stadium in Warsaw, providing his country with plenty of steely resolve in the middle of the park, before scoring a wonderful winner 13 minutes from time.

Strachan was delighted with the display of Brown alongside West Bromwich Albion's James Morrison and felt the Hoops star contributed heavily to the triumph.

"I thought he was fantastic. James Morrison was excellent beside him in the first half," he said.

"He's (Brown) ungamely in a way but he does what all good midfielders do: pass the ball, keep it, move it on. But then he has got the power to win the ball back. He can be really pleased with himself."

Scotland will now look ahead to a May meeting with Nigeria before placing their focus on Euro2016 qualifying which kicks off with a trip to Germany in September.
