Scolari challenges Man Utd's Ronaldo to lead Portugal to Euro2008 success

Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has challenged Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo to lead his nation to victory in Euro2008.

Big Phil said: "If Cristiano wants to be the best player in the world, he has to prove it with the national team.

"He's one of the five best players in the world. I can't say if he's the best.

"He's one of the best players I've worked with. Cristiano has shown that he is a player who can decide matches. Now he has all the potential to be one of the leading figures of world football.

"I hope he is not only the best player in the world playing for Manchester United, but also with the national team during Euro 2008.

"If that happens, it will be good for him and especially for us. He's got an advantage because Kaka and Messi and Drogba won't be at Euro 2008.

"He has received my vote of confidence and has grown a lot. Cristiano knows he is important, but important for the whole team."
