Fulham's Mark Schwarzer managed to keep put a penalty but could not deny AS Roma a point in the Europa League overnight. The veteran Australian shot-stopper made a brilliant save to deny Roma's Jeremy Menez in the 79th minute of the clash at Craven Cottage.
Fulham thought they had escaped a bullet as they were ahead 1-0 at that stage thanks to a 24th minute header from defender Brede Hangeland.
But the penalty was caused by a Stephen Kelly challenge which led to him being sent off, reducing the home side to ten men which proved costly in the end as the Italians managed a 94th minute equaliser through Mario Andreolli.
Roma doubled Fulham in shots on goal but were constantly thwarted by Schwarzer who was at his best in the group stage encounter.
