Mark Schwarzer loves the fact that Australia's World Cup chances rests solely with themselves.
The Socceroos need to beat Jordan at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night before following up with another win over Iraq in Sydney next week and the departed Fulham veteran says it is nice to know they do not need to rely on other results to qualify for Brazil 2014.
"We all know what's obviously riding on these two games," he said. "We set out, right at the beginning of this camp in particular (to) take each game as it comes.
"We're in a position, because we didn't perform as well as we probably should have over the course of the last 12 months in various games.
"The great thing about the situation that we're in is that it's in our own hands."
Australia sits third in Group B of Asian qualifying, two points behind second-placed Oman with a game in hand, and equal on points with fourth-placed Jordan. Group leaders Japan have already booked their place in the 2014 World Cup.
