Brendan Schwab has revealed that he will step aside as Professional Footballers' Australia Chief Executive this winter.
The current PFA chief releases a statement saying that he will step down from his role to concentrate solely on his job as chairman of FIFPro in Asia.
"However, I will be retained by the PFA as its legal counsel to lead our upcoming A-League, Socceroos and Matildas collective bargaining negotiations.
"I have discussed my decision extensively with the PFA Executive. We are confident and determined to ensure my decision is implemented in a way that advances the interests of the players, the PFA and FIFPro at this critical time for our game.
"Of course, none of the PFA's achievements would have been possible without the support and engagement of the players and some outstanding staff members and advisors. I would particularly like to acknowledge Simon Colosimo, John Poulakakis, Will Hastie and Laura Sigal who have driven the PFA with me in recent years.
"I look forward to continuing to work with you for the benefit of the players and the game.""I wish to let you know that I am stepping aside as PFA Chief Executive to focus on my work for FIFPro - the world players' union - in Asia.My resignation will take effect on 30 June 2012," Schwab's statement read.
