Schuster on seven goal stunner: I demanded Real Madrid not relax

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster admits he pushed his players at halftime of last night's amazing 7-1 triumph over Sporting Gijon. Recalling the angry reaction from fans after their lacklustre victory over Champions League rivals BATE Borisov, Schuster said: "I told them I wanted a repeat of the first-half when we scored three goals and they went out and managed four. "This is what I also wanted against BATE Borisov, but it wasn't to be. You learn from your mistakes, as we have shown tonight."

Rafael van der Vaart struck a hat-trick, while Raul hit a brace and Schuster added: "Raul, Rafa (Van der Vaart) and Robben. They were all outstanding. The only thing missing was a goal for Javier Saviola, but he did well in attack.

"The result is very good for everyone who played, this is what we must do ... keep scoring goals."
