Schuster: Real Madrid weren't lucky to win

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster insists they were not fortunate to win yesterday's derby at Atletico 2-0.

Ruud van Nistelrooy struck inside the first minute before Raul's effort just before halftime virtually settled the result for Real.

Schuster said afterwards: "Today we have not won luckily.

"In the second-half Atletico did not have one scoring chance and we clearly had one with Robinho. After the change of Pepe, Atletico played well. But the second-half was ours.

"The early goal is always good, but then that leaves the opposition plenty of time to comeback. I must admit, after Van Nistelrooy scored, we were a little shaky at the back.

"Our form wasn't spectacular, but clinical and that was what was needed today."

Atletico coach Javier Aguirre admits the timing of Real's two goals were crucial.

"They scored after 30 seconds and in the 41st minute, just before the halftime break. They were two goals that hit the spirit of the team. The dressing room is depressed because we've lost a crucial three points," said Aguirre.
