Scholes upbeat about Man Utd return

Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes is nearing a first team return.

The 33-year-old has started running again after a lateral ligament injury and has targeted the end of the month to make his comeback.

"I've got these next few weeks to get as fit as I can, so hopefully I'll be fresh when I come back," said Scholes.

"It's a couple of months since the operation now and everything seems to be okay. I'm on track to return at the end of January or the start of February."

The former England midfielder admits it has been difficult for him to sit out so many matches.

"It's been frustrating for me. I still see all the games but it does get a bit boring just watching because all you want is to be out there playing," he told the club's official website.

"But I know that I have to be patient and hopefully I'll be back playing soon."
