Scholes offers Rashford advice over Man Utd bench role

Paul Scholes says Manchester United is the best place for Marcus Rashford.

The United legend concedes a bench role for the teen isn't ideal.

But he told Goal: "Being on the bench is not ideal, but he's only 19 years old, and it may seem inconsistent, but I think it's in the best place to learn with a coach who knows what he wants.

"Seeing someone like Zlatan Ibrahimovic playing and practicing with him every day will only do him good. It is a progression that takes place over time.

"Ryan Giggs was different. He was noticed when he was 17 because he was far too good. You could not afford to leave him out of the team. With us, whether I was there or not, you could be sure that young players would sometimes go on the bench to learn.

"He had six superb first months. It has calmed down a bit since then, but I really like him. He is fast, he can dominate his opponent, he can play centre-forward, left winger, right winger. He has the pace to do it."
