Manchester United legend Paul Scholes was disappointed they filed to sign Inter Milan ace Wesley Sneijder nor Manchester City's Samir Nasri over the summer. Scholes, who is joining United's coaching staff, is typically modest when he says the club did not need to find a like for like replacement - but he admits he would have loved to see either of those targets at the club.
"I was watching, hoping they'd sign these players - but not as replacements for me," he told the Manchester Evening News. "The manager must have got sick of talking about me. Every time I turned on the TV someone else was asking him a question about me.
"I don't think it is a case of having to replace me. At this club it is not about replacing players. We move on. There were players like Roy Keane and Bryan Robson - don't have to replace them."
