Schneiderlin confident Southampton will stay up

Morgan Schneiderlin is convinced Southampton will beat the drop this season.

Saints drew 2-2 with Wigan Athletic on the weekend.

"The first thing is to be sure we are safe as quick as is possible and make sure we win some games," said the Frenchman, who had fired Saints into a late 2-1 lead before Shaun Maloney's last-minute equaliser.

"But we are very confident we can do something very good this season.

"I am sure we are going to avoid relegation with the way we play. We don't deserve anything else.

"But we just want to push on as high as possible.

"The manager and everyone in this club wants to push this club as far as possible and that's what we want to do on the pitch."
