Brian Schmetzer will remain in his role as Seattle Sounders assistant according to ESPN.

The 51-year old recently interviewed for the FC Dallas vacancy but was unsuccessful and will return to CenturyLink Field to stay on Sigi Schmid's coaching staff.

Schmetzer has been with Seattle since 2002, coaching the old USL side until 2008, before stepping aside for Schmid who arrived from Columbus Crew in the Sounders' first season in MLS.
