Schmeichel remaining level headed as Leeds reach automatic promotion spot

Leeds United keeper Kasper Schmeichel says his experiences at Notts County are helping him deal with supporters' expectations at Elland Road, reports BBC Sport. The 24 year old won promotion at Meadow Lane in 2010 and believes the United squad is handling the pressure of being second in the Championship well.

He told the BBC's Football League Show: "I had it last season. You didn't really look at the bigger picture.

"We played a game at a time. It is a cliche but it's the way to do it."

Schmeichel, who is hoping to make his debut for Denmark after impressing for United, is delighted for the fans but wary that it is too soon to talk of promotion.

He said: "Obviously promotion is the ultimate aim for everyone in this division, but at the moment I think it's a bit premature from the playing side.

"Fans will speculate, and they'll love it at the moment and, you know, I think they deserve it."
