Schmeichel intent on guiding Leicester to top flight

Kasper Schmeichel is desperate to do what he can to help Leicester City into the Premier League.

The Foxes currently sit 12th on the Championship table after an indifferent beginning to the campaign but the 25-year old Danish goalkeeper is confident that things will improve to a point where the club can push for a promotion play-off position.

"We haven't quite lived up to our own expectations yet," Schmeichel told Sky Sports News Radio.

"But it is coming towards the part of the season where you have to start delivering and start building up a run and that's what I hope we can do.

"We're only halfway through now, we have a busy month coming up and this is where, if you can build up a run, you can really shoot on.

"We're a new team, a lot of new players, a completely new set-up, so things do sometimes take a bit of time.

"Man City are an example, it took them a couple of seasons and now they're flying and that's a little bit of the case here.

"There's a lot of new things going on and players need time to settle."
