Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel feels manager David Moyes has suffered due to former chief executive David Gill's departure.
The Dane admits he's surprised by his old club's struggles at home this season.
"I'm always surprised when we [United] lose because that's not what Manchester United is all about," Schmeichel told the Daily Mail.
"I think in the summer, it was too much change. Obviously, the manager leaving the club at the same time as David Gill left the club.
"The loss of Paul Scholes, too, was important. The players got a lot of confidence from playing with Paul.
"It proves beyond any doubt that even with something as big as Manchester United, if you make that number of changes, they are going to have a hard time. I'm not putting any blame in any kind of way on David Moyes.
"I understand what a difficult job that he has, he doesn't have a David Gill at this moment in time to bounce ideas off. David Gill would have been a fantastic support for David Moyes at this time."
