Kasper Schmeichel admits he is delighted to be fit in time to help Leicester City in their battle against relegation.
Schmeichel had been out of action for the Foxes for an extended period due to a metatarsal injury sustained back in December and he finally made his first appearance since returning from injury against Tottenham at the end of last month.
The inspirational Dane then played a starring role to help the Foxes to a fine victory 2-1 over West Ham United on Saturday and the goalkeeper has now expressed his delight at being able to make a return to the pitch during a crucial period for Leicester in their battle against the drop.
"It wasn't very pleasant being out of the team, and out of football for a while," said Schmeichel in the Leicester Mercury.
"I've got a great family behind me, that kept my spirits up and kept me going. Getting back to football was all that was on my mind.
"You can talk about being frustrated about losing games, but when you're injured you have got no chance of influencing anything. That's not nice. But I'm very happy to be back and fit, and happy to be back in the team and that we won."
