Scharner warns West Brom pals they are not yet safe

Paul Scharner has warned West Bromwich Albion teammates they're not yet safe.

Scharner, who moved from Wigan Athletic to West Brom last summer, believes they may need three more wins to secure a second successive campaign of top-flight football.

Scharner said: "I felt going into Saturday's game that we needed three or four wins.

"We got one of them against Liverpool - but we can't rest (on our laurels) now.

"We have to keep focused on our job and get the points we need to survive. We have still a very tough programme in front of us."

Scharner added: "It looks like you will need definitely more than 40 points and, to be on the safe side, let's say three more wins from here.

"From my own experiences with Wigan a few years ago, I don't want it to go to the last game. We had to beat Sheffield United away, we had to win to survive. It was a tough game with so much at stake.

"I don't want to taste that experience again. We want to try and be safe before then."
