Wigan Athletic defender Paul Scharner is confident they can find consistency.

Scharner admits Wigan will make mistakes as Roberto Martinez beds in his new signings but he took heart from the Latics' display at Goodison.

"There are a lot of new players in the team this season, and it is something they will get better at," he said.

"We showed we can battle and that was important after the way we lost at Blackpool. This was a much better performance, and it puts us all in a better frame of mind for the games to come."
