Wigan Athletic midfielder Paul Scharner admits Maynor Figueroa's wonder goal took him by surprise.
The Honduran managed to score from inside his own half during Wigan's 2-2 draw at Stoke City.
Scharner said: "Absolutely brilliant. I think it was stunning. I was surprised and not focused on the free-kick - and then I saw the ball fly into the goal.
"To be honest, he tries to shoot from everywhere. He has stopped it a little bit over the last few months but we all know he has got a big hit."
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez added: "Maynor has been outstanding the whole season. He is a terrific character."
The Spaniard admitted that he was initially angry that Figueroa went for goal, saying: "We were very mad as he struck it. But it was a genius decision that you don't see many times on the football field.
"You will see that goal many times now. You know the size that Sorensen is. To be beaten like that takes a special contact."
