Schalke star Raul admits they couldn't get close to Manchester United this week.
Even with Wednesday's second leg still to come, the Spanish star has already thrown in the towel on his side's chances of reaching the Champions League final.
He said: "United played at a great level, Rooney and Chicharito did us a lot of damage.
"Our keeper Manuel Neuer saved us in the first half. We improved in the second half but they punished us twice - we couldn't even get close enough to kick them."
Goals by Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney gave United their 2-0 advantage to take into the return leg.
