Schalke have confirmed interest in Mainz striker Adam Szalai.
The 25-year old Hungarian has already attracted attention from Arsenal in recent months and now Mainz's Bundesliga rivals Schalke are keen to bring him to Gelsenkirchen according to general manager Horst Heldt.
"Definitely, Adam Szalai of Mainz is a super player," Heldt told Reviersport. "He is one of those players I would like to sign for Schalke.
"Having said that, I do know Adam Szalai would cost us a transfer fee of 8million (£6.8m).
"Of course, participating in the UEFA Champions League next season would be a financial boost for any club like us!"
