Schalke's Uchida returns to Japan for thigh treatment

FC Schalke boss Jens Keller has revealed that Atsuto Uchida has returned to Japan to undergo treatment on his injured leg.

The 25-year old defender tore his thigh muscle in the weekend's 2-0 win over Hannover and is expected to have surgery on the problem area back in Japan.

Keller suggested Uchida 'will likely need surgery' and could remain sidelined for two weeks and as many as four meaning he will miss the Champions League Round of 16 first leg visit of Real Madrid on February 26.
