Tottenham have failed with a bid for their Bosman signing Lewis Holtby.
The Sun says Spurs have had a bid for Schalke midfielder Holtby rejected.
The German, 22, is joining when his contract expires in the summer but Spurs want him to cover for the injured Sandro.
Schalke boss Horst Heldt said: "The window is still open and Lewis is not any cheaper."
