Schalke's sporting director Christian Heidel has suggested that up to 11 Premier League players were offered to his club this transfer window.
The German side were linked to the likes of Danny Drinkwater, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Danny Rose in the summer.
However, Heidel suggested that none of the players were the value proposition that his team needed. And he added that his team may still do business before the European transfer window closes on August 31st.
"We will do no more than two transfers, and I do not really know if the second one will be possible," he said in a press conference on Wednesday.
"I can just say that we will definitely buy a left-back. We have been in concrete talks with this player for about a week and we will buy him in the next few days."
