Schalke general manager Horst Heldt was reported as saying: "Swapping Huntelaar for Berbatov is a very interesting proposal. I'd just need to sleep for a night on the idea.
"It is entirely natural for a player in the sort of top form Huntelaar is showing to interest other clubs."
But this afternoon, the Schalke chief has come out and quashed that claim by saying the Dutch striker is not about to leave the club anytime soon.
"Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is under contract at Schalke and he is a first-team regular at our club," he told Bild.
"We have no ambition to transfer him. He is showing top standard performances this season and it is pretty much usual those performances are getting noticed by top-quality clubs.
"At this moment we have not received any offer for the services of Klaas-Jan Huntelaar from any club."
