USA international Jermaine Jones has denied claims that he is set to undergo knee surgery.
German daily BILD reported on the weekend that the Schalke midfielder was set for six weeks on the sidelines to clean up a meniscus problem but he has made it clear that is simply not the case.
Jones posted the following on his Twitter page:
On my way to training soon!! Surgery ?? No... Schalke 04 is more important atm!! Reading BILD is always the funniest moment of my day! — Jermaine Jones (@Jermainejunior) September 30, 2013
Jones also told USsoccer on Monday that he is fine to continue playing for both club and country.
"I have had some minor issues with my knee for a while, and the plan is to take care of it during the winter break," he said.
"Playing is obviously no problem. I will be in the team this weekend for the game against Augsburg and I'm ready to go for the national team if I get called in."
