Schalke looking to deal in former Arsenal keeper Lehmann

German Bundesliga club FC Schalke have confirmed their interest in Arsenal great Jens Lehmann.

The 41-year old came out of retirement to help former boss Arsene Wenger last season, playing one Premier League match in his second spell with the Gunners.

Lehmann has indicated that he would like to continue playing and now another of his old clubs, Schalke, are looking to bring him to Veltins-Arena after losing Manuel Neuer to Bayern Munich.

"We always said that we want to hire a second goalkeeper if Manuel Neuer leaves," Schalke general manager Horst Heldt told dpa.

"There are various scenarios and Jens Lehmann is a part of it."
