German club Schalke are edging nearer to the capture of Manchester City's Matija Nastasic.
The 21-year old Serbian defender does not appear to be in Manuel Pellegrini's plans at the Etihad Stadium and Schalke are keen to bring him to the Veltins-Arena according to general manager Horst Heldt.
"We are negotiating back and forth, that's how it goes. You get closer and closer and in this case we are no longer far apart from each other," he told Bild.
"I am optimistic that we will get this done in the coming days."
Reports suggest that the Roberti Di Matteo-managed Schalke will initially take Nastasic on loan for the remainder of the season with the view to a permanent deal.
