Schalke chief Horst Heldt insists a move to Newcastle United for Joel Matip is no done deal.

The Premier League club have been linked recently with making a €14m bid for the 23-year-old Cameroon international.

"Joel intends to stay on at FC Schalke 04," said Heldt. "So far we have not been talking about a new contract.

"All we did was begin exploratory talks."
