Schalke chief Christian Heidel admits time is running out for Sead Kolasinac to commit to a new deal.
The left-back attracted an offer from Chelsea in January and has also been linked with Liverpool.
After victory over Mainz, Heidel stated: "His contract with us is running out, the talks are running and we want to keep him.
"He also knows that he enjoys a great appreciation with us in the club. For us, it does not matter if New York Cosmos, SC Paderborn or a really big club is approaching him.
"Every club knows what this player can do."
