Ricky Sbragia is delighted with his new scouting role at Sunderland.
Sbragia was replaced as manager by Steve Bruce at the end of last season and is happy with his new job.
"[Stepping aside] was right for me and right for the club," Sbragia told SAFC TV. "They've gone out and got Steve, who is fantastic to work for. I thoroughly enjoy working here.
"The great thing for me was seeing the fixtures come out with this club still in the Premier League. I played my small part but everyone in the club worked hard.
"I never thought I would be manager of Sunderland Football Club and that never even crossed my mind when Roy (Keane) left.
"If you'd have told me I would have the opportunity to manage in the Premier League when I started out coaching back in '86, I'd have laughed in your face."
