'Save the Children' shirt sponsor Fiorentina

Italian club ACF Fiorentina have agreed a shirt sponsorship agreement with the charity Save the Children, reports euFootball.BIZ Now, the charity's logo will adorn the Serie A club's kit and can be seen on August 29th game against Napoli for the first time.

Mario Cognigni , Fiorentina's vice-president, said: "Today we decided that our support to this international organisation, for an important project like Every One, should grow to a higher level, and we decided to offer, from the beginning of the championship, the most visible platform of communication that we have available - our shirt.

"There will be other initiatives to study together and to help Save the Children reach the ambitious objectives of Every One," added Valerio Neri, the chief executive of Save the Children in Italy.

"It's the first time a major league team like Fiorentina has married with the mission of a major international organisation, such as Save the Children, on behalf of a big and empowering cause, which is to stop the avoidable and absurd deaths of millions of children in nearly 70 countries around the world who die from pneumonia, measles and diarrhoea."

Fiorentina's deal follows in the trend set by Barcelona with UNICEF and Aston Villa's arrangement with Acorns during 2008-2009 and 2009-2010.
