Savage says Chelsea striker Sturridge deserves chance to fill Rooney void

Welsh legend Robbie Savage says Chelsea striker Danny Sturridge should given a chance by England to replace Manchester United's Wayne Rooney.

Savage wrote in the Mirror: "The player I do want to see given the chance in Rooney's place is Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge. He has pace and power and can link play. I'd hand him a run.

"Danny Welbeck has done exceptionally well. They are both great talents, but Sturridge is learning quick how to be a striker. He did brilliantly for Bolton on loan, took a step down to come back up, and he deserves a chance. He has a bit more to his game than Manchester United's Welbeck in my opinion."
