Savage: Morrison could be signing of season at West Ham

Football identity Robbie Savage says Ravel Morrison could be the signing of the season at West Ham United.

Manchester United offloaded the troubled teen on deadline day.

Savage wrote in the Mirror: "Ravel Morrison could be the signing of the transfer window - if he wants it enough.

"For the past couple of years the word in football circles has been that Morrison was the next big thing at Old Trafford. Now he has been sold to a Championship club - albeit a very good one in West Ham - for less than £1million and without a buy-back clause.

"That has to send a message and I hope Ravel heeds it.

"It is quite something to be sold on the cheap by any club when you have so much going for you, but when that club is United, where the emphasis for years had been developing homegrown players, you know something has gone badly wrong.

"And for all the talk that Big Sam Allardyce will sort him out, the change Morrison needs has to come from within, as it has for someone like Joey Barton.

"When I was let go by United all those years ago, my work ethic wasn't the problem. I went because they had more naturally talented players in my age group.

"I don't know Ravel but his case seems to be almost the opposite. His ability is not in question but his attitude is."
