Robbie Savage accepts he must fight for a first team place at Blackburn Rovers this season.
"I think we've got a big season ahead of us."
Savage suffered his broken leg against Watford in January and he acknowledges it was a difficult period in his career.
He added: "It feels fine, luckily I had a good surgeon, a good physio and a team that was very supportive.
"I worked hard, but it was a bad one. The surgeon said it was possibly one of the worst ones you can get as it was a compound fracture.
"It was an emotional moment when you're not playing. I admit I was horrible to live with, I was very low and didn't know what to do with myself."
