Saudi Arabia's Al Ittihad draw with Real Madrid

Saudi Arabian club Al Ittihad have held Spanish giants Real Madrid to a 1-1 draw in the Peace Cup.

The Saudis headed to the Santiago Bernabeu for the clash with Real who hit the lead through captain Raul who netted in the 55th minute.

It looked like the home team would push further ahead when Wesley Sneijder unleashed from long range but fortunately for Ittihad, the ball travelled past the goals.

In the 64th minute, the visitors got back on level terms thanks to a Hicham Aboucherouane headed equaliser.

Ittihad manager Gabriel Calderon was delighted with his men after the match.

"We would have won if it wasn't for the missed chances but I am happy with the players who showed great enthusiasm," he said.

"It was a friendly game and we are not going to get too over-excited. We are fortunate to be able to play teams like Real Madrid and Ecuador's Liga de Quito because this will help strengthen our development," he added.
